Youth

Our youth group Seawildlings, for Craignish Primary School children in Ardfern, aims to inspire a passion for the sea and marine conservation from an early age, perhaps we will be creating the marine biologists and environmentalists of the future! We provide children with an opportunity to enjoy healthy time outdoors while learning about, and celebrating, our wonderful marine and coastal environment. The children will have opportunities to help protect our Loch and coastline, while learning new skills, building aspirations and gaining self-confidence. Our young leaders, from Lochgilphead High School support

Our partner Heart of Argyll Wildlife Organisation is also delivering a programme of citizen science to primary school children at the Ardfern Yacht Centre.  Six primary schools are involved. Pupils learn about marine conservation, measure native oyster growth, collect scientific data and identify a host of marine life in our oyster hoister cages.  For many it’s the first time they’ve seen spiny starfish, hermit and shore crabs, dog whelks, sea squirts, native oysters and more. Its very good fun!
